****ATTENTION:  PARENTS OF MINOR STUDENTS AND ADULT STUDENTS with learning disabilities, autism, behavioral issues, social and emotional  issues, dyslexia, thought disorders and any other disability or impairment, which are covered by IDEA, the Federal Individual with Disabilities Educational Act, the Child Find Act, California State Laws, and other laws and regulations protecting such students. We are seeking stories of students who were failed by their schools and districts and ultimately the California Department of Education, and who were either passively compelled to stop attending school, dropped out, were neglected or failed to receive an individualized educational plan as mandated by law. We are seeking those who are not being prepared or were not prepared for higher education, work or independent living, the right of all citizens. We are seeking parents who were not informed of the legal and other rights of their children in a timely fashion or never informed of those rights.  We are seeking those who have experienced unfair or biased treatment during the process of seeking help and information. We are also interested in the stories of regular and special education teachers, service providers such as speech therapists, as well as present and former employees of charter schools, public schools, non public and private schools and any interested in the just and fair administration of special education services, and who have witnessed stories of students who were failed by the educational system in Sonoma County. We are not opposed to speaking with those who feel they have been well served, as we wish to be fair and impartial, however, our purpose is to document the overwhelming failure of our educational system for those who are not wealthy or do not fit into the narrow system which may serve the most severely disadvantaged, or the average student with very specific and limited learning styles. We plan on writing a book, and/or articles, to inform and educate parents and students.  We hope to start a non-profit to assist those who cannot afford legal representation, and to inform and educate parents and students. We are reaching out to reporters, whether in the print media or radio and television, to effect change by bringing this matter to public attention.  We are seeking the support of elected officials. Please contact N. Rochelle at specialedrights368@gmail.com, mobile 707-495-6297 (talk or text), land line 707-755-3888, and confidential fax 707-755-3889.  If you prefer, send your information to P.O. Box 14805, Santa Rosa 95404. You may remain anonymous.
